How I handle your data

Messages you send me

When you use the contact form, I store:

• your name and email address, so I can reply;
• the topic you chose, if any, and your message;
• which form you used (the homepage, the contact page, or the contact page opened from the chat assistant), and when you sent it.

I use them only to read and answer your message. They are stored in my site’s database, where only I can read them, and are deleted automatically after 180 days. When email delivery is switched on, a copy is also sent to my inbox through Resend, an email service, and stays there as ordinary email.

The message record holds no IP address, browser details or cookies. To stop abuse, the form counts messages per visitor using a code derived from your IP address that changes every day, cannot be turned back into the address, and is deleted within a day.

To have your message deleted sooner, or to ask what I hold, email me at hi@silentashish.com. I will delete it and confirm.

Chat assistant

When you use the chat assistant, every question is sent to DeepSeek to write the answer, even if you choose “Don’t save this chat on this site.” Please do not share personal details in a question.

Unless you choose that option, I save your questions and the assistant’s answers, the page you opened the chat on, citations, any rating you give, the time, the model, and token and cost counts in my site’s database. I remove email addresses, phone numbers and long numbers from both questions and answers before saving them. I use the log to review and improve answers.

I keep conversations until I delete them. You never see an ID for your chat, so to ask me to delete yours, tell me roughly when you chatted and what you asked, so I can find it, and email me at hi@silentashish.com.

Lab demo

When you type your own question into the lab demo, I send it to DeepSeek to plan the search. The lab stores usage counts, not your question text.

Analytics

I count page views and a few clicks (such as opening my résumé) with Vercel Web Analytics, and measure page speed with Vercel Speed Insights. Neither sets cookies or follows you to other sites, and neither ever receives your name, email address or message.
